Summary

The Communications Intern will work with the Communications Department to perform functions critical to communicating the Studio Museum’s mission and offerings to Museum stakeholders, the press, and our diverse audiences. The Communications Intern will learn about institutional voice, communications strategy, and media relations best practices, and will assist with drafting copy for the institution’s administrative, programming, and exhibition needs, as well as perform administrative tasks to support the maintenance of the Communication Department’s records.

Key Details

  • Program Duration: June 1 – August 7, 2026 (10 weeks)
  • Weekly Commitment: 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Interns are required to be on-site at least three days per week, including mandatory full day attendance on Tuesdays.
  • Mandatory Orientation: All accepted interns must attend an in- person orientation on the morning of Monday, June 1, 2026, to begin the program.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must possess excellent writing and communication skills, superb attention to detail, be highly organized, and be able to work independently.
  • Must demonstrate familiarity with social media and online email marketing tools and must be adept at using Microsoft 365.
  • The Communications Internships are designed for mature undergraduate students, graduate students, or recent graduates interested in careers in arts communications, media studies, social marketing, or related fields.

Compensation

$3,600 stipend
