Summary
The Mexic-Arte’s Permanent Collection includes over 7,000 important artworks and cultural materials in Latinx art. The Mexic-Arte’s primary holdings consist of specific collections such as the Serie Print Project Archive, the Juan Anotnio Sandoval Jr. Collection, the Taller Grafíca Popular Print Collection, Popular Mexican Dance Masks, and rare books within the Mexic-Arte Museum Library.
Working collaboratively with the department’s Registrar, the Collections intern will assist in enhancing and increasing the accessibility of the Mexic-Arte’s Permanent Collection. The intern will gain hands-on experience in cataloging, data entry, researching, and packaging the Permanent Collection. Specifically, the Collections intern will work on standardizing existing records and digitizing new artworks and cultural materials, helping to make the collection accessible to the general public. They will gain experience in the accessioning process, preservation, and the Mexic-Arte’s collections management system, PastPerfect. In addition, the intern will assist in packaging objects in the Permanent Collection and creating an inventory of those objects

- Term: 10 weeks (June 17 – August 28, 2026)
- Schedule: 10 hours per week (Monday–Thursday 9 am-6 pm and Friday 9 am–5 pm).

Eligibility
Requirements:
- Adaptable to day-to-day tasks, being able to work fast or slow paced
- Detail oriented, enthusiastic, and capable of doing repetitive tasks
- Strong writing and observation skills
- Experience using Microsoft Office software
- Works well in a team and independently
- Some experience with photography/ still life photography
Preferred Qualifications:
- Some knowledge or proficiency in collections management systems, such as PastPerfect or TMS
- Experience working in a museum setting with inventory and/or cataloging databases
- Some museum object handling and knowledge of collections care practices
Education: Enrolled in a Bachelor program for museum studies, art history, history, information sciences, anthropology, or related field.
Compensation
$22 per hour
