Summary

The Community Initiatives Intern will assist with community engagement activities that support The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis in being a trusted and reliable partner to the community and the Mid-North neighborhoods surrounding the Museum, including Crown Hill, Highland Vicinity, Historic Meridian Park, Historic Watson Park, Mapleton-Fall Creek, and Meridian Highland. This intern will help reduce barriers to dependable, credible resources that support a high quality of life for community members and Mid-North residents through outreach, program support, and evaluation efforts.

Eligibility

  • Completion of at least one year of college coursework.
  • Academic background in nonprofit management, event management, marketing or communications, social work, education, family studies, museum studies, child development, psychology, sociology, or a related field.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and research skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Professional behavior and a responsible work ethic.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
  • Availability to work Saturdays and some evenings to support meetings, programs, and events.
  • Availability to work a minimum of 12 hours per week.

Compensation

$15 per hour
