Summary

Working under the Division of Young Learners within the Department of Learning and Engagement, the Petrie Fellow supports the planning, administration, and facilitation of Young Learners programs and initiatives with a focus on Teen Programs. In supporting Teen Programs, the Fellow will be exposed to the process by which MoMA’s Teen Programs are developed and executed, including best practices in teaching and facilitating teens, working with living artists to create programs for young audiences, administration, event and program coordination, and project management.

This is a two-year grant funded position.

Salary: $53,000/year

Eligibility

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (youth development, fine arts, art education, arts administration, museum education, or related degree) or equivalent experience
  • Experience/strong interest in working with youth (ages 14 – 19 years old).
  • Passion for teaching within the arts and engaging with youth.
  • Exceptional time-management and personal organization skills.
  • Proactive communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to succeed in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to multitask and manage ongoing project deadlines.
  • Experience/strong interest in teaching groups, leading tours, and public speaking.
  • Administrative experience including facility with Microsoft Office suite, CRM applications, Google suite, calendar management, and project management software desirable.
  • Must be available to work weekends and evenings as required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish (preferred).

Physical Demands

  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand for long periods of time.
  • The employee is required to work in a public environment with face-to-face contact with the public.
